Sherwood Forest Traffic calming update June, 2024

Dear Neighbor,

The traffic calming subcommittee has been working consistently since 2018 internally and with the City of Detroit Department of Public Works to create a safer traffic flow.  The traffic flow on St. Martins has been modified to one way traffic direction St. Martin.

New signs have been placed on St. Martin to guide drivers and the new instructions are listed below.

  1. Two-way arrow sign-indicating traffic beyond the alley begins two-way traffic flow. Located Midway on St. Martin.
  2. END ONE WAY sign-indicating traffic beyond the alley begins two-way traffic flow.
  3. Do Not Enter sign-indicating eastbound St. Martin traffic flow discontinued at the alley.
  4. No Parking Across Driveway-Tow Away Zone-placed under do not enter sign.
  5. No right turn sign to prevent alley traffic from going east on St. Martin.

Our next steps are to study the adherence to the new traffic flow plan, share findings with the Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Police Officer (NPO) Crowder and the 12th Precinct to request assistance to enforce, and contact city officials for additional changes as needed.

Please be mindful of the new traffic flow and use Pembroke as an alternative to entering Sherwood Forest at St. Martin.
